Project Description

Originally a charming two-bedroom cottage, this Villanova home has been transformed into a luxurious and functional retreat that harmonizes with its picturesque surroundings. At Janiczek Homes, we pride ourselves on creating spaces that blend beauty, comfort, and functionality—and this renovation is a testament to that vision.

The renovation expanded the home's footprint to include a spacious master suite, a functional mudroom, and a breezeway that enhances the home's flow. New additions were designed and built to not only serve practical purposes but also to create an inviting and comfortable living environment.

Exterior uniformity was key to maintaining the home’s original charm while introducing modern elements. The indigo-gray clapboard siding, paired with vintage oak doors, ensures the home retains its classic cottage feel while subtly elevating its curb appeal. The oak French doors lead into a welcoming entryway, where custom herringbone marble flooring sets the tone for the refined aesthetic that flows throughout the home.

The primary suite is a showstopper, offering both grandeur and tranquility. Featuring a soaring cathedral ceiling that invites natural light to flood the room, the suite is further enhanced by exposed oak beams and sloping pine-tongued ceilings, evoking a sense of rustic elegance. The custom design elevates this space into a retreat that feels as expansive as it is cozy, offering a perfect balance of nature and luxury.

The primary suite’s bathroom mirrors the elevated atmosphere of the bedroom, with a perfect blend of vintage and modern elements. An antique black clawfoot tub provides an old-world charm, while reclaimed wood paneling adds texture and warmth to the space. Soapstone countertops, with their rich and dark tones, continue the elegant, rustic aesthetic, while maintaining the serene and calming vibe of a high-end retreat.

The kitchen strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and luxurious finishes. The dark stone theme of the spacious island creates a stunning contrast with the warmth of maple butcher block countertops, drawing the eye and adding depth to the space. Brass fixtures add an extra touch of sophistication, enhancing the timeless character of this culinary haven. The design thoughtfully captures the original rustic charm of the cottage while infusing it with refined, modern elements to suit the needs of today’s discerning homeowners.

At Janiczek Homes, we believe that true luxury is found in the details. This renovation blends the functionality required for modern living with the comforts of a timeless, cozy cottage. The seamless integration of antique and contemporary features, natural materials, and custom finishes makes this Villanova home a peaceful retreat.

A reclaimed wood vanity top is further customized with a stone vessel sink. With its gray walls and glass door knob, every detail in this renovation was considered in its design.

The walk in shower at the Villanova renovation features a black marble threshold, timeless subway tile, and glamourous brass hardware to create a luxurious experience at home.
